And, if it’s a new home you’re looking for, then the good news is you’re rather spoilt for choice.

The developments, so far, have proved very popular.

We can safely conclude that some plots have sold, we kid you not, faster than hot cakes from our very own Hobbs House Bakery in Chipping Sodbury.

This is what we found out.

McCarthy and Stone – Barnhill Court, Chipping Sodbury.

The Developers speciality is assisted living accommodation for those above 70 years of age in search of a comfortable and secure home with great care and assistance available 24/7.

The development is well designed; maintaining easy access for wheelchair users, as well as storage for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. The bathrooms have slip-resistant flooring, walk-in showers and lever tap. The kitchens are fitted with all modern appliances including a waist-height oven and integrated fridge.

Residents can meet at a table service restaurant in the heart of the development to enjoy time with their friends and receive a three-course lunch for only £4. There is also a guest suite you can book if any friends or family come over to visit. 

Residents can choose to have as much or as little care as they please, but the care they do receive is of a very high standard with a 24-hour emergency call system.

Barratt Homes- Autumn Brook, Peg Hill, North Yate.

North Yate, a product of local Estate Agent’s desire to differentiate (houses tend to cost more in North Yate than South Yate), is about a mile and a bit along (and down) the Wickwar Road from Chipping Sodbury.

If you’re looking to reserve a Plot on this development you’ve got a bit of a wait.

There’s a waiting list and new Plots are unlikely to be released until October.

The houses have chic yet sturdy design, so it’s no wonder.

Their most popular housing designs are the three bedroom Barwick and the Woodbridge, town house style with 2 and half stories and four bedrooms.

David Wilson – Autumn Brook, North Yate.

A mere stone’s throw away from Autumn Brook and also confusingly called Autumn Brook (David Wilson is part of the Barratt Group) these houses are only just under construction.

A few should be released around October so keep an eye out!

David Wilson will be building homes with 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms and are aimed more at the experienced buyer, although they also have schemes for first-time buyers. Their show homes will be available shortly so you can have a little nose around. Create an account with them to receive any updates. 

Bloor Homes – Barnhill Gate, Chipping Sodbury.

The location is at the back of Waitrose and another popular new development.

Bloor Homes offer 2-3 bedroom houses aimed at families and cater to first-time buyers. The Help-to-Buy scheme is also available here. Indications are that like Barratt homes, these houses are selling fast.
